Forgotten children 15.chapter

I have lived in a mall with my little brother for past nine years. After Benjamin`s third birthday, our parents went back to work and forgot us. Because the mall was owned by our parents, we were allowed to eat what we wanted, take toys, computer games and movies from shops, and sleep in the furniture store, and no one said anything to us. For six years, we talked mostly just with each others, expect weekly call from our parents and making exams in nearby school, where one of the  mall workers took us to.

Everything changed when I turned 12. Until then, we had studied independently, but suddenly our parents decided that we had to go to school. On the first day, I already understood that I would never fit in.  I didn`t knew how to talk with others, and didn`t knew anyone, but everyone thought they knew me. To them I was Nathan Evergreen, spoiled bastard whose parents owned half of the city.

Yeah, my parents were Henry and Susan Evergreen, who owned hotels, malls and factories around the world, as well as one of the biggest investment banks in the USA. I had seen my parents more in the television meeting bankers and politicians than from face-to-face, but it didn`t matter to my classmates. They were jealous to me, because Suburbia was a miserable city.

There lived almost million people, but it was far from glamorous metropolies. It was full of blocks built in 80`s, run-down indrustial buildings and ready-made people whose live consist of dull office job, runnig in the hypermarkets and brainless entertainment, because they were too afraid to change their life, too afraid to stick out, but still it was their biggest dream.

Looking out at a town called Suburbia
Everybody's just fighting to fit in
Little rats running mazes, having babies
It's a vicious little world that we live in
Looking back at a life on the other side
I realize that I didn't fit in
Didn't hate it but I didn't quite relate it
To my precious little world

Breaking out of a town called Suburbia
I remember everybody always saying
"Little brat, must be crazy, never make it
In our vicious little world"

Lyrics are from song "The Reckless and The Brave" by All Time Low
